Before I begin let's remember: The Restrictions on Magic, Alchemy and Technology are similarly enforced here. You can't be untouchable or predict the next set of events for the next 1 thousand years or something....
Astrology is the art of the heavens, the ability to command fate itself. While lesser astrologists can predict future events, that is but the initial stage of Astrology. Through the art, one can manipulate identity, look forward in time, affect events and more. Simply put, Astrology is the manipulation of heavenly and celestial bodies to affect terrestrial events. Every Terrestrial action, body, person, etc is linked to a Celestial body of some sort. It is through the manipulation of that Celestial body that one can affect Terrestrial events, entities, etc.
The effects of Astrology aren't meant to be visible and out there. Instead, subtle changes and invisible alterations are the realm of Astrology. This art isn't about calling down a comet or shooting out lighting, although such events are feasible in Astrology but doing so requires extreme mastery, the art itself is about manipulation of reality and fate.
In order to enact Astrology, one must use a bit of one's energy, much like Alchemy or Magic, in order to shift the Celestial Bodies in a certain direction. Stronger shifts in Terra would require things such as Star Charts or Horoscopes to accurately manipulate the heavens or Astronomic Circles in order to correctly channel energy into the heavens, not to mention vast sums of energy. Examples of the effects of Astrology would include causing someone to fail miserably at one act, causing time to rewind itself or accelerate at a faster pace (Both of these acts are extremely difficult to accomplish though), looking into the future, looking into the past, finding someone, create a different identity for one's self, lay a curse on someone, cast a divination, etc
The Celestial Bodies in the Skies are many and plentiful; there are millions of things to manipulate. However, all of these bodies are categorize into 12 Constellations, they are:
Aquarius
Aries
Cancer
Capricorn
Gemini
Leo
Libra
Pisces
Sagittarius
Scorpio
Taurus
Virgo
When one is born, one is assigned to the Constellations of the Night sky, and it is through this constellation that one can manipulate fate.
When one uses a Astrology spell, the practitioner would channel their energy to the heavens to alter or shift these constellations. Usually, one would manipulate the constellation one was born in, or can manipulate other constellations in order to broaden one's knowledge of the Art. Knowing a opponent's constellation is a very good thing, as manipulation of one's corresponding constellation is much more effective than another constellation.
However, besides these constellations, there also exists 10 objects, known as the Ten Spheres, which also govern the skies. So to add onto the options of Astrology, one can also manipulate these 10 Spheres to change reality. They are:
Sol - Associated with Power, Strength, Perfection and Light
Luna - Associated with Change, Adaptability, Survival
Mars - Associated with Conflict, Battle
Venus - Associated with Love and Serenity
Jupiter - Associated with Secrets and Knowledge
Mercury - Associated with Journey and Travel
Saturn - Associated with Endings, Halting
Pluto - Associated with Death, Soothing
Uranus - Associated with Desecration, Destruction, Maiming
Neptune - Associated with the sea, but also Changes and Fury
Unlike the Celestial bodies which are more free form when it comes to manipulation of reality, each planet has a specific purview it alters. The Astrologist would channel their energy to the associated Sphere to change the associated aspect of realty; be it physical or metaphysically. Least to say, the manipulation of the last three Spheres is considered dangerous at best, heretical at worst.
To the mechanical effects, Astrology is about manipulation of the concepts of Time, Identity and Fate through the alterations of the Celestial Bodies.
Time manipulation would be subtle, nothing too gross now. Examples of time would be reading and future or past, gazing someone into the present, changing the future through subtle shifts in Fate. Only at higher levels would things like slowing down time or speeding it up even be considered...
Fate deals with the manipulation of the threads of destiny, creating good or ill fortune, binding oaths, blessings, curses, and also probability. The manipulation of fate is also subtle. While large fate manipulation such as the outcome of a battle would be near impossible to alter, small things like a coin toss or dice roll would easily be affected by Astrology. One could even cause bullets to miss their target or for swords to slice in the wrong direction. Furthermore, curses can stem from the manipulation of Fate, reinforced through the decree of a Celestial body. One can also place Oaths, sanctified by the Heavens, on people, give the Heaven's Blessing onto an individual to make them flawless at what they do, and other things. It is here that one could theoretically attack someone else through bad luck, but such a spell could only be attempted at higher levels of Astrology Mastery.
Finally, Identity is also something that the art of Astrology can affect. A skilled practitioner can find and locate people through their personal belongings, astrological sign, etc. However, Astrology and Magic, and sometimes even Technology, can block out this tracking. Furthermore, one can alter one's identity with Astrology, changing the Astrologist's Corresponding Celestial Sign to create a new identity for one's self. The category of Identity also provides defense against Astrological effects, as one would reinforce one's Identity to try and shrug off astrological effects.
However, what is paramount to understanding Astrology is that all alterations to the Celestial Bodies are only temporary. Fate will eventually fix itself, and even the most powerful of curses will disappear in time.
The number of Astrologists in the World is extremely small. The Art of Astrology is extremely difficult to master, and many simply do not have the time. While Astrologists usually come together in communities, there haven't been any major schools or groups yet. The Art is primarily taught in the Bremelia, with a strong following in South Umberland. The Lucian Astrologists are a dying breed, as Pure Magic is what appears to be the favored art. Finally Shussei Astrologists are myths, and those that do practice the art are merely charlatans trying to get some money off a dope who thinks they're blessed.
