I was thinking since you are planning on having factions, that having some kind of organized system to manage the people would be nice. Each faction will start with a few ranked members in place and then the rest are at the bottom of the food chain. After awhile factions could hold tournaments to fill the need for management in the group, or simply promote people if thats how you prefer. That should keep things organized and give the recruits something to work for.

We have NPC's as the Emperor of Lucia, and I guess Mashiro is now the President of Shussei. But rankings underneath that sounds like a good idea. Like, generals, lieutenants, whatever for Lucia. Shussei can have its own, more modern system, with Secretary of Defense or some such. And Bremelia, well, John's got that. I dunno where it fits.

Yeah, I'll probably go with something similar to Shussei, since I'm too lazy to come up with anything terribly unique

To Shussei?
I think Bremelia's system would be more like Lucias, or similiar to tribes or something instead. Mine is based on company positions which I give out. Once I'm content with my board of directors everyone else in Shussei will be a peon.
But I'm for tournaments otherwise, but in Shussei they will be for gambling and the whatnot.
Oh, and theres a NPC above me too.
