THE WHITE COMPANY
Soldiers for Hire, Mercenaries, Dogs of War, Civilian Contractors, all these names, and some unsavory ones, could be used to describe the legendary White Company. Despite their small number, the White Company is a Elite Mercenary company that has fought in the hells of modern battlefields, turning the tide under legendary leadership and battling hopeless odds. It was they who fought the Terrorists Cells Plaguing Bremelia, put down the various Peasant Rebellions in Lucia, and battling more terrorist cells in Shussei. Led by the ever so charismatic Auroth De Luce, the White Company is known far and wide as a 1st Class group to use when you need swords to fight for you.
Usually, one doesn't meet a White Company representative, and if so only during extremely important meetings. The White Company operates through a series of spies and factors that "happen to know someone" to do the job. These requests are eventually filed back to Auroth himself, who overlooks each job requests. Auroth, the Captain of the Company, only takes jobs which he sees as morally acceptable. He isn't out there to make money: instead he wants to help the world a little at a bit, and perhaps make a nice profit off it.
The Company operates out of safe houses and bases located all throughout Terra. These bases are used to store weapons, equipment funds, and even civilian personnel. However, the company's members are never broken up. Instead, they always remain together, with some hired hands to help maintain the bases the company has, without the hired hands never knowing what they're taking care of. Anyways, the Company stays as a unit, and remains a unit. This fosters feelings of trust, which is vital on the battlefield. Beyond the company's members, Auroth has several allies from other various mercenary groups that he hires or recruits to undertake extremely huge jobs. This, however, is rare; as Auroth would prefer to kep the profits all to himself. Beyond that, the Captain also has several contacts within all the three major governments, taking jobs from them when they come by and making sure the White Company doesn't fall to one of the nation's bad sides.
Soldier's Life:
The total number of soldiers of the White Company is around 150, with about 50 support civilians which takes are of the company's more mundane things. Each Soldier is intensely trained; taught how to fire a gun, use a sword, correctly apply magic, alchemy, etc, use technology efficiently, given instruction to close quarter combat, taught how to use vehicles, ride animals and different tactics to use in various situations. The end result is a very flexible soldier who can easily adapt to any situation. This training elevates the White Company members to a higher level of power compared to the various other nation's soldiers, and even non-combat personnel are taught how to fire and gun, swing a sword and take commands during a battle.
Every Soldier is equipped with a long sword as their main melee weapon, dagger, three day's provision, .357 Magnum and a .308 Winchester as their main range weapon. For close quarter assignments, the Soldiers would receive the same basic melee equipment and same range side arm, but would op the Winchester 1873 for a Winchester 1897 or a FN P90. Alternatively, Soldiers why wish to instead use their sword and a magic shield in battle as oppose to rifles. Ever Soldier is trained extensively in all weapons, from knives to shotguns, and is required to be a master of the long sword and rifle. Side Arms are important, but most of the stress lies on the two main weapon choices. Also, Soldiers learn how to apply melee and range weapons in close quarter combat, as well as various martial arts. Soldiers, furthermore, are trained everyday, 7 days a week, for two weeks straight before being inducted into the Company. This is to hone previous experience with weapons, or find recruits that aren't up to stuff and can train them to be competent with the rest of the company. Also, every soldier learn alchemy, and learn what would be a very small amount of knowledge to use on the battlefield. Finally, the soldiers are taught how to take care of their weapons, and maintain it's effectiveness in battle.
Heavy Support, Combat Alchemists and Fast Mobile Units are taught a variety of things beyond the basic troop. Heavy Support are taught how to pilot heavy machines, but are more focused on learning how to use and deploy trip mines, grenades and to a very small extent rocket launchers gathered through back room deals. Combat Alchemists are Basic Soldiers who increase their knowledge for Alchemy and are much more effective with their Alchemy than with a gun or a sword. Finally, Fast Mobile Units are physically trained everyday to be able to run as fast as humanly possible. Furthermore, they are taught how to use common and uncommon vehicles to get across the battlefield, and are drilled on information about stealth, flanking and how to attack with speed, precision and stealth.
Elites are the top of the top of the White Company. They are the shock troopers and marines. Elites are painfully physically trained each day and taught to be master with virtually any weapon found on the battlefield. They are also taught a sweeping amount about battlefield tactics, and are taught how to try and identify and use Magic and advance Technology to their advantage. Basically, they are like Modern day Spartans.
Panoply
The White Company HQ is located somewhere in Bremelia. While some may say that it is located deep in Effusion or Temperance, others say that it is located in the Poshtour Mountain Range. Captured White Company soldiers, even under torture, do not reveal the Company's sacred base, and more often times reveal a safe house. The question of whether a member is shown the HQ, or merely a large Safe house remains a question unanswered among the company's lower members.
The Company's 150 members are divided into various specialties once they pass basic training. Some may choose to specialize in magic, while others wish to use heavy weapons or simply remain as regular soldiers. Each process of specialization is over seen by a officer, and must be approved by a Senior Officer. Each specialty soldier though can fight as basic soldiers, and when the situation requires do so. The number count of specialties currently are:
75 Basic Troops
25 Elites (Trained even harder then Basics and have powers)
15 Heavy Support (Trained to use tanks, rocket launchers, etc)
20 Combat Alchemists
15 Fast Mobile Troops (Skirmishers, Motorcycle-Knights, etc)
The Number of Civilians can be broken down to:
20 Technicians/Blacksmiths
15 Doctors
10 Diplomats/Social Spies
5 Support Alchemists
And beyond that, there lies the White Company's various allies and contacts.
The Company also have a number of weapons at their disposal. The number listed are:

300 .357 Magnums
300 .308 Winchesters
150 FN P90s
150 Winchester 1897
300 Long Swords
400 Daggers/Knives
25 60mm Motors
15 Anti-Tank HEAT Missle Launchers (Never Deployed unless fighting Tanks)
150 Magical Shields
150 Mines
Vehicles
4 Panzer Tiger I
25 Armored Personal Carrier
15 Infantry Fighting Vehicle
3 Transport Boats
Officially, the White Company are a band (A very well managed band though) of outlaws, deserters and mercenaries. Unofficially, each nation and a large number of organizations have made extensive use of the Company, resulting in equal political asylum for the company for all three nations. Furthermore, Auroth's contacts in the government maintain this aura of stability, but the moment a war breaks out, the Lancer knows he either has to choose a side or remain neutral.
Ranks:
The Company operates as a military organization after all, and ranks therefore must be in existence. The rules of rank out weigh specialties, so a Basic Trooper that's higher than a starting Elite outranks the Elite, despite what their skill level may indicate. The ranks for the White Company are:
Captain: Held by Auroth
Lieutenant
Senior Officer
Officer
Private
Note: Usuall, the Captain of the White Company is away from the company, leaving it in the care of his Lieutenants. His reason is simple: He wishes to have a free life without the worry of paperwork. His Lieutenants have proven themselves in the maintenance of the Company, and thus allows the Captain to roam around free.
