Name: Vincent Ignis
Alias: Hidden spirit
(Note: I will be referring to "Hidden Spirit" as a separate character where necessary to describe how Vincent uses his abilities when disguised as the alias in a more organised way.)
Race: Human
Class: Imperial fire mage/Mercenary
Age: 23
Height: 5' 9"
Weight: 149 lbs
Hair: Light brown and kept relatively short, usually a mess.
Eyes: Dark brown, with gold speckles spread out across the iris.
Sex: Male
Build: Lean, with plenty of obvious muscle development, built mainly for endurance and stamina, but with enough strength and speed for him to do what he needs to.
Appearance:
Vincent: He has more muscle in terms of fat - muscle ratio and usually has a stern look about him that almost suggests he is already on the edge of losing his temper. As for clothes, when he is not in his military attire, he wears black khaki pants with a black dress shirt and tightly fitted black shoes.
Blue Spirit: He wears black pants that sit reasonably tightly around the waist but fit loosely around the legs, black long sleeved button less shirt, slip on shoes, black leather gloves and a wooden mask. He also then has a unique criss-crossing harness on his back that holds his dual broadswords.
Personality:
Vincent: He believes that people become strong by having to struggle and fight for what they want, learning to control their own fate. So, when he decides that he wants to do something, it is set in stone as he will not back down despite odds or potential consequences. This is led by an iron will and inflexible determination.
Vincent is domineering, controlling and will find ways to get what he wants no matter what the cost. He also disdains working with others when a task can be done alone, regardless of the difficulty, although he will make an effort if there is no other option.
Around others, Vincent has a stern and serious demeanor, often being sarcastic or jumping straight to the point. He tends to ignore any behaviour that he sees as pointless and pities those who need to joke about things or make fools of themselves to create humour. He also does not allow himself to get attached to others, dealing with business then leaving.
Hidden Spirit: He will never speak (unless faced with certain unique situations) and is always about business. Hidden Spirit also shows no sign of being biased about what his task is, aside from payment; the greater the task, the higher the payment. One thing he will never do is betray the Lucian Hierarchy.
He accepts that he is to do what he is told and will succeed at what he is asked, regardless of consequences (that do not involve betrayal of the Lucian Hierarchy). He never gets attached to a person, treating all behaviours not relevant to his tasks as irrelevant and non-existent.
When at work, he is solely focused on that one goal that will guarantee success, not letting anything stand in his way (except his loyalty toward the Lucian Hierarchy). He also ensures that he is always paid, making sure he has some way to keep tabs on the client, and checking that he can keep track of the client effectively.
Home Country: Lucia
History:
Vincent was born to Duncan and Lillith Ignis in Trance. They were a particularly well off family that had a long history of being able to master the art of controlling fire. They were also well known for being uncanningly loyal to the Lucian Hierarchy. From the moment he could walk, Duncan began teaching his son the family arts, expecting the very best from the very start.
This is precisely what was gotten out of Vincent.
Vincent took every opportunity to better his abilities and learn something new. Despite this, he was rarely praised for his actions, but instead found gratification in using his abilities to torment others and get what he wanted (without asking of course). When Duncan and Lillith discovered this, after the several months that it had been going on, Vincent was severely punished being told that his abilities should not be used to hurt others unless he was in danger, to do so would "bring shame on his parents, and more importantly, the family name".
At the age of 10, Vincent began focusing on becoming more adept at getting about without being noticed and was often able to talk his mother into getting him something that he wanted. Although by this stage, Vincent rarely asked for anything, having been taught by his father that only what the Lucian Hierarchy wanted was truly important. Vincent, wanting then to impress those at the top of the hierarchy, progressed in entire hurdles to rival his fathers knowledge at age twelve and his skill at controlling the flames at age fourteen. But still, that was not enough; Vincent began traveling to the Lich forest to train, trying to push beyond his limits.
On one particular session at the forest, a large, foul looking beast emerged from the forest. At first Vincent froze in fear, he had never put his training into real practice, but as the beast bound towards him at alarming speeds for its size, Vincent took control of himself and eventually fought it off after two grueling hours. He did almost lose his life and finished battered, bruised and with several severe cuts, but survived and made his way home. Upon telling his father, Duncan became overjoyed that his son had accomplished such a feat. That night Vincent was treated like royalty in the household.
As more years went by, Vincent began to find that he was having less to do, so becoming more and more bored. At his eighteenth, he created himself an alternate persona, dressing differently and getting a mask to hide his face from those that would recognize him. He also stole a pair of dual broadswords from a sleeping merchant. In his spare time, Vincent began reading books on how to use broadswords and teaching himself in secret. By his nineteenth, through sheer determination Vincent had become proficient in dual wielding the broadswords. He then began to study other weapons arts, practicing with rented weapons to get a feel for each one he studied. He then incorporated the alternate styles into his broadsword abilities to enhance his abilities.
From then on, Vincent began to use his alter ego, named the Hidden Spirit, as a mercenary for hire. While looking for such work, Vincent would at first eavesdrop on upper class peoples conversations, occasionally discovering that someone wanted something done that could not be done through legitimate means. This has since been Vincent’s main source of income and has even devised a mail system for the Hidden Spirit to receive work through. The requests are sent to lower class residents who keep the mail until the Hidden Spirit comes to collect it and pays them for their kindness (they are not to see the contents of the mail). These requests contain many different tasks, including on one rare occasion, a request to kill a resident of Lucia (as a result, the Hidden Spirit nearly killed the man who requested it). This was seen by the Hidden Spirit and Vincent as a betrayal of the Lucian Hierarchy and any betrayal of the Lucian Hierarchy is always turned down.
With a regular income coming with various requests through his being a mercenary, Vincent has his own small home and is able to sustain himself. He also signed up to the military as Vincent to receive extra and aid the illusion that he is not the Hidden Spirit. His broadswords are hung on a wall "display purposes" (he says he is not able to use them), the Hidden Spirits clothes are hidden in a secret compartment that only Vincent is aware of.
Vincent hopes that one day, his loyalty will be rewarded. Or that he can carry out orders from the hierarchy itself, although he is ready to accept that this is not to happen.
Weapon of Choice:
Vincent: Although he could use a variety of weapons with some skill, he prefers to remain unarmed. (Being an imperial in Lucia's grand army, he can use a crossbow as well as the various weaponry he trained himself in)
Hidden Spirit: He favours using dual broadswords in combat, being more than proficient with them. He can also use a variety of other weapons with some skill.
Magic:
Vincent: Although Vincent’s abilities have transcended beyond that of his fathers, he is still and is intent on progressing until he has reached his full potential.
He can create flames out of nothing and sustain them. He can also manipulate fire to grow, shrink, burn faster and even momentarily slow the rate of burning. The limit of Vincent’s potential is currently unknown, but when Vincent reaches it, he will put more focus on how he can use the magic to his advantage.
Hidden Spirit: He does not use magic. (Unless it is found out that he is Vincent Ignis or if he is faced with a very unique situation, then simply refer to the above)
Fighting Style:
Vincent: he uses direct and powerful blows to target joints and pressure points in order to disable or provide an opening to capitalize. He will also use his fire magic to force an opponent back to provide openings or if he has no reason to hold back, he will attempt to seriously burn areas that are vital for fighting, such as hands or eyes, using quick powerful blasts of fire.
Hidden Spirit: he will begin the fight using an "Avoid and Evade" tactic, sizing up the opponent before countering. He will use the broadswords to try and disable the opponent, trying to hit joints or pressure points, or if intending on lethal attacks, aim to cause serious gashes, or slit the throat.
Strengths: He is decisive and accurate with his blows, able to hit the desired target with relevant ease. He also has a high tolerance for pain.
He can easily motivate himself to do what is necessary to win a fight and once started, he will not stop the fight until it is finished.
Weaknesses: He tends to expend too much energy too quickly, being reckless and leaving himself open to counters. Also, as he has a high tolerance for pain, he often pushes himself too far, leaving him prone to collapse or fall unconscious.
As he accomplishes more, he becomes more confident in his abilities, often leading to him being over-confident and under-estimating the opponent.
Notice: Vincent does the majority of things differently as the Hidden Spirit to ensure that he and his alias are seen as two different characters, this helps to elude people as to who holds the true identity of the Hidden Spirit.
The strengths and weaknesses apply to Vincent and the Hidden Spirit.
