Name: Loki Koukatsu
Race: Human
Current Class: Pirate
Former Class: Strategist
Age: 23 years old.
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 175 lbs.
Hair: Brown, short and constantly spiked.
Eyes: Hazel
Sex: Male
Build: Very well toned and defined muscles throughout physique. Little to no fat to be found. Not skinny, but far from large as well.
Appearance: Loki's clothing is mainly comprised of fashions found on his travels across the seas. He usually wears a pair of dark red silk pants with unique designs on them, a green vest with gold trim and equally outlandish patters, and a pair of black boots with golden trigrams polished onto the sides. He also wears a red headband as well as a red warriors wrap around his waist. Along his torso, Loki is covered with long tattoos reminding him of his adventures. He also bears a large diagonal scar across his stomach, usually covered by white wrapping.
Personality: Loki is above all else a layabout. He usually lacks motivation to act, and can be apathetic in most situations. While in certain shimmering moments he reveals a shadow of his former self by demonstrating exceptional foresight, reasoning and power physically and magically, it has become apparent that he lacks any goals in modern times. He treats people as they treat him, which is usually terribly. His first impressions often leave something to be desired, not to mention the undermining theme of his current lifestyle; piracy.
Home Country: Lucia
History: Loki Koukatsu was born to an ordinary Lucian family, not noted for anything in particular. They were good, honest people, and upstanding citizens of Lucia. After birth, it became apparent that there was something less than ordinary about their son, however. Loki was developing intellectually at an astronomical rate, and his parents had no idea how to raise him. Being the ever-loyal citizens that they were, they reported his strides to the powers of their country, and asked for advice. Instead, they were offered to allow their son to be raised by specialists under the emperor's supervision. A group of cloaked men arrived at the doorstep, and took the young boy away.
A short time later, the parents were informed that the boy had been taken in by the Emperor himself in a position of nobility, and that they did not have to worry about him anymore. Under the guidance of the Lucian hierarchy, Loki's gifts flourished. His natural cognitive gifts earned him an apprenticeship under the greatest tacticians in the land, whom he began competing against in war games. By the age of 13 he could defeat them all consistently. The young Koukatsu also impressed the emperor's most trusted magi, who discovered his affinity for mental trickery; a skill he developed into his own unique brand of magic which manipulated the psyche. This connection with the minds of others could not be explained, and could not be duplicated, making the magi even more uneasy.
Soon, the emperor appointed Koukatsu to a position where he could strategize the movements of the Lucian armies to quell rebellions and catch outlaws. He excelled at the position, never losing a battle, and his future looked bright.
The turning event in Loki's young life came when he was roughly 16 years old. An army of barbarians from scarcely known parts of the Northland attacked the outskirts of Lucia, and began to march on towards the castle. Koukatsu was careless, and underestimated the barbarians. Although he sent what should have been enough men to safely end the threat, the army that was selected was annihilated by and outrageously strong foe. The emperor immediately revoked the boy's power and gave it to one of his more trusted strategists. With an army of his own men's blood staining his hands, a distressed Loki fled the castle, the emperor's control, and the entire hierarchy.
For a time, Loki was a poor man roaming Bremelia in search of a purpose. He couldn't stand to think of what happened to him back home, so he completely forgot what had happened. Unfortunately, the land in which he now resided was in deep economic struggle, and robberies were a part of daily life. Reluctantly, Koukatsu decided to fight back utilizing the gifts he had developed at the castle. 'Convincing' a few men to become his followers, as well as 'Borrowing' a boat, Koukatsu takes to the life of a pirate, traveling far and wide and getting everything he has the easy way; by taking it.
In recent times Loki can be found drifting along the coast of the Umberlands, living a carefree life and commanding his small squad of bandits.
Weapon of Choice: The outrageously large sword that he carries on his shoulder is called the Hissori. He also keeps an amazingly beautiful gun in a belt holster behind his back, but it's mostly just for showing off and bluffing. He calls it the Fotokoro, referring to the fact that he can not get it to fire.
Fighting Style: Loki uses the power of reactionary force to help him succeed in battle. His fighting style depends on his opponent, and the movements they make. He never received formal sword training as a child because his mental and magical gifts took precedence. When he took to the free lifestyle of the outlaw, he elected to finally learn the sword, simply by countering whatever his opponents decided to throw at him.
Magic: As with many things that brought him early success, Loki's magic relied heavily on his mental abilities. Although able to learn the basic elemental magics taught as standards in Lucia, Loki utilized an unforeseen type of power that dove deep into the psyche of his opponents. He would create illusions that toyed with the mind and left the body useless. Some said he could read minds, copy techniques and even control enemies through manipulation of the will. These powers were not taxing to Loki's body, and were extremely effective on a number of foes. At one point, his teachers praised him as a future revolutionary of the world of magic, but Loki's revolution never came.
Strengths: Physically, extremely fast and precise. Mentally, hailed as a legendary strategist, capable of turning any situation into a mathematical equation and weighing all of the possible factors to determine the course of action that yields the greatest chance of success. Very imaginative and inventive. Emotionally, tends to be brutally judgmental, which keeps him from being surprised if other personalities bring about a worst case scenario. Also good at distancing himself from all things, negative and positive, so he can continue moving forward.
Weaknesses: Very ineffective from long ranges, because of his lack of functioning firearm and inability to properly wield a bow. Emotionally, he tends to be stubborn and a bit pompous, causing him to disregard suggestions from others that supercede his own. Also extremely lazy, which can hurt in the long run when he needs things done but wont do them himself. Not very good with people, easily hated. Also, certain techniques, namely the ability to control behavior and appear as invisible are limited only to the weak minded, and cannot affect most of Loki's stronger willed opponents.
Fun Fact: As a young strategist, Loki greatly desired a nickname for people to know him by, but always annihilated anyone who would spread rumor of his power. Now, as a pirate, he feels such a thing would be trivial and childish, and ignores anybody who calls him by anything other than his name.
